Zoo York is a clothing line that is focused to manufacture clothes for the youth, mostly those who have tremendous influence of Hip Hop, punk and other aspects of the street life. It started out in the streets targeting at the local skate boarders specializing in urban street fashion. Since Zoo York encouraged the graphitti artists from all over to showcase their designs by applying their talents in fashion, the company initially started out with the name “Soul Artists of Zoo York” in the 1970s. It was in 1993 that Zoo York actually took its form and transformed into a high selling clothing line that it is now.
With BMX, motor cross, skateboard and other extreme sports as an inspiration, Zoo York has managed to create a huge fan following among the urban youth with its unique street style and stunning designs. Tunnel graphitti is something that acts as a muse to Zoo York’s incredible creations. Although it was Rodney Smith’s brilliant idea, it was Marc Ecko that gave this brand a smashing new look and a street style kinda appeal. Self expression is one thing that Zoo York designers always keep in mind while coming up with new styles and designs.
It is a bit hard to ignore the stuff that these guys come out with, especially when you know that what inspires their designers is the graphitti that you usually witness in alleys and subways.
